php mysql drop down list?

hi..i am using mysql for my database and php for the coding.. I have made a drop down menu with up to 20 categories. Could someone help me with a simple code where I could select one category which would take me to the correct results on the next page.

At the moment when i select any subject i get the same full list of topics on the next page..

help!!
