PHOTOSHOP HELP!! (why does this have to be twenty characters)?

I need to know how to create a vintage and glamour effect using CS4.
Example of the vintage edit:

and a glamour edit:

As you can see, the left part of the picture is the side that's been edited with the glamour effect.

I've tried looking it up on the internet but no luck :/

all it looks like is a grad map

make a new layer > apply image > gradient map > add the one with purple orange and the other color, havent used photoshop in a while lol

then play with the mode and change the opacity

OR use a different grad map
