All I want to do is change the colour of a picture to red.

Its a picture of a cloak, and its yellow.
I would liek to change it to red.
Seems very basic, I know, but I just cant do it!
I want to keep the toning/shading that it has too, so paint bucket doesnt work. Please help (:

There are a lot ways ways to do this but the most simple ways is using hue and saturation, to do this, select your cloak, then click Image> adjustments> hue and saturation. And play around with the colors. Make sure you are selected to the cloak layer. Also don't forget to check the small box Colorize.
You can also use the color replacement tool, just right click the brush tool icon and use color replacement tool. Set the mode to normal, Limits to Discontigous. Then choose yellow as your foreground color.

So are you selecting a section of the picture first or is this going to be applied to the whole picture?

If selecting a part you need to use the selection tool (lasso and there are 3 different types of this tool).

Which ever you are doing, under
IMAGE > ADJUSTMENTS > COLOR BALANCE

There you will be able to work with the colors. (You can work under shadows, midtones, and highlights. Find what works for what you want)
