Photoshop from PC to Mac?

I have Photoshop CS4 for my PC, but I am going to be switching to a Mac soon.
On my Mac, would it work if I downloaded Photoshop online, then entered the same serial code that I already own?
If not, then I know Adobe has a platform upgrade, but is it free? or how much does it cost?
What would be the cheapest way to do this?
 
You can't use the same serial code. Each copy has a different serial code, and it cannot be reused.

What you need to do is talk to Adobe. Check the site for the cross platform upgrade info, you WILL have to pay something, but it will not be nearly as much as buying a brand new copy of the Mac version of CS4. There really isn't any other way to approach this.
