Photoshop Elements and RAW?

I was wondering. Does Photoshop Elements 7 have the capabilities or edit RAW files, or does it just convert them to jpeg, psd, etc before you can actually edit them. (seeing as the point of shooting raw is for post processing work, if it just converted them before it'd be a little counter intuitive, no?)

If elements is a no go, I've been thinking about ponying up some more money and getting light room, and then later in the future, if needed, actual photoshop itself..but if elements can actually EDIT raw, instead of merely being a converter, it'd be nice..to say the least xD.

Yes, Elements can edit Camera RAW in limited ways (not full Elements editing). See the link below. Somewhere on the Adobe web site is rumored to be a list of supported cameras, but I couldn't find it.
