photoshop black and white with some color?

ok so I have photoshop cs2. I need a little help. We've all seen those black and white photos that have like everything is black and white except the flowers or tie etc. how do you go about doing that? any help would be great!

use the brush tool. set your color to black. use color mode. just use the brush as you normally would.
