Photoshop 7 Fades my Line-art?

I have Photoshop 7 and every time I have to re-install the program, whenever I open old line-art drawings, whether drawn digitally or by pencil, in the new install, my lines always look totally washed-out or faded! A lot of my color pictures look different each time, as well. Anyone have an idea of how to fix this in the program, perhaps?

I don't want to have to go into every file each time and adjust contrast settings/whatever and save them all over again...
I forgot to mention the fact that these old files I am re-opening are being saved as the native Photoshop format, sorry.
 
Stop saving your critical files as JPEG encoded files. Always save them as default Photoshop files.

Every time you edit and save a JPEG file, it will become more and more degraded due to compression.
