a camera is a camera. they all do pretty much the same thing. BUT they all feel and behave differently. this isnt buying some new shoes, youl have your camera far far longer!
goto the olde camera shoppe, and pick them up, put it to your eye and feel it. (its a very zen thing) can you hit the controls with it to your eye? does it feel right in your hand? then look at the specs... (or goto steves camera reviews.. and do some research.
everyone bangs on about nikon this and cannon that.... ok, they are good cameras, but its badge engineering. (nikons suck and cannons break) ME, i have always used Olympus... the meter is better than ANY of the competition. and the zuiko glass is good.
ive stil got my Om1n my Om2n and my Om4ti... they have never ever broken. ( ive had the Om4ti for over 20 years) titanium body, flash synch at 2000/1, its jet black and is pure rock n roll...
digitally i have an E1 Olympus (5mp, titanium alloy weatherproof body)
the shutter is guaranteed upto half a million shots, and you can buy em on ebay (with around 10 000 shots on them for 200 quid) and they are immaculate...
i aslo have an E500... ive put 50000 shots on it in 3years... and it works just like it did when i got it out the box... ive seen em go for £225 and less... (sadly the E300 looks too quirky)
and they still have better meters than the competition... 50asa film at F22 will get you around 40 minutes! (on a dark night) and theres NO shutter lag... itll do 3FPS... if you have small hands the E410 /420 might be better suited..
but, hey, what does it cost to go look?
