Photography newbie, help explain about lenses and etc please?

Hi guys, I'm interested in photography and have been and have been shooting with lomography cameras. I want to upgrade to a DSLR, but things with lenses and ISOs, etc. confuse me.
IE: what IS a f/1.2 and f/1.4 lense, or why low/high iso setting, what exactly is "aperture"? etc..
