Want to give me a link to a reasonably priced, reasonably average, macro lens for a my Canon EOS Xti Rebel? Where the "macro" part in the name of the lens is NOT misleading... hah

Sometimes a cheap alternative to a new lens is to purchase a set of diopter rings (close-up filters). They come in different sizes, depending on the objective size of your lens. They will screw right on the front of the lens, and gives you a similar effect. They work best at a focal length of 50mm.

myself and my father made one... we brought a cheap 35-80mm lense and took the front off it. It's amazing!!! The only problem is you can't focus so you need to focus by moving back and forth which can be extremely annoying. But it works wonders!
