Photography Lens which one to choose?

I need some help with the pro's or anyone familar with lens. I'm going to be purchases a Nikon d3000 and let me know if thats a good camera to work with in the Nikon line, dont want to spend that much on the body. I will be shooting celebrities and doing alot of action shots. If I just get the d3000 body, what good high quaility lens do you prefer that the outcome is magazine worthy
