photography in a gym?

I have a Canon TXI c/w TAMRON 18-250mm asphrerical zoom
When taking shots in this typical gym the photos are dark and the images blurded....I would like to get an add on flash what settings and considerations would be best when catching the action shots??
 
If your can get close enough your on board flash should work. Otherwise do some research here.
