Photography at concerts. How much do u make?

I am looking into going to shows and taking pictures and sending them to magazines. I was first wondering how much you get per picture and you need to know I am into metal so I would be sending them to magazines like Revolver and Outburn. Also I was wondering if the Nikon D40 would be a good enough camera for that? Please let me know. Thank you.
 
$100 for Half Page or less.

$200 for full page

$500 for the Cover photo


The hard part is getting the access and rights. I would pass on the D40 if you are serious. It is not rugged enough for want you want to do.
