Photo Editors like picnik (preferably free)?

i have photoscape right now and i had the picasa thing or whatever by google and i dont care for either of them. i love how on picnik you can edit your pictures with lighting and all that plus you can add crazy things like glasses. i would love something like that but the site is getting too limited for me and i am not up for spending money. any suggestions?
i dont mind downloading things either so it fdoesnt just have to be like on a website.
 
I personally love to use*Amazifier. It is a nice and simple photo editor.It's a free one like*Paint.net*and*PhotoScape*but*Amazifier*is far more simple and a has real cool look and feel. You can't do professional stuff like Adobe's*PhotoShop*with it but its good for 99% of the photo editing I*do. It*has some nice photo effects, photo frames, stickers, etc..
