Phones swamped, servers crash as voters slam Congress

Not completely....

Say you have someone earning 50k a year they are spending a large percentage of their income on stuff to live, groceries, rent, car, bills etc etc...

Then if you have someone earning say $400,000 a year then are only spending a small percentage of their income on those vital day to day need to live items..

So the effect taxation with a flat consumption tax hurts the average income earner a HELL of a lot more then the wealthy...

What you need is a balance...

A bracketed tax system along side a flat consumption tax (relatively low) and a reasonable corporate tax rate..

The solution to this entire problem is not that difficult!

Spend less and earn more.... I don't see how this can be that hard to do..

Oh, how about this latest headline?

GE Healthcare is moving it's headquarters to China! That's right folks, China! They are going to be investing billions of dollars in China and creating jobs there instead of here.

http://www.boston.com/business/articles/2011/07/26/ge_moving_x_ray_business_to_china/

Oh, and guess who their CEO is? Their CEO is Jeffrey Immelt... who happens to be..DRUM ROLL PLEASE.. the head of Obamas JOBS committee.

Fucking idiots.

Basically what he's been saying is that the tax brackets should be responsible for their population percentage as a percentage of overall tax burden.

The top 1% should only be responsible for 1% of the overall tax bill.
The bottom 50% should be covering the 50% of the tax burden currently covered by the top 3-4% (or bottom 97%).
The effective rate on an individual making >$380K should actually be a fraction of a percent, rather than the 23% that it is currently.

I mean, that's all I'm left to assume since he refuses to actually answer any questions on what he thinks would be a fair tax burden for the top 5%.

Where are you getting this magical $50,000 nuraber?

From the chart that we both have posted it states that individuals making between $33,000-$66,000 paid 11% of the overall tax burden. They are clearly not wealthy.

meh, they got more than that against the bailout and they did that shit anyway

all the shit they are talking about the call volume coming in now is bs to seem like the public wants it.

You are still slightly wrong. If we are paying and servicing our debt we can't be downgraded. We would only be downgraded if we stopped paying on our debt... which we won't do.

All the GOP has to do is hold the lines. Not raise taxes. Simple as that. The Dems will cave eventually.

Harry ReiRAB plan to cut the deficit was by banking on the fact that we'd be able to end our engagements in Iraq and Afghanistan.

So to you, wealthy == anyone making more than ~$50K/yr?

Oh, and it's 49%, but they only represent around 10% of the total AGI.

But hey, don't let facts get in your way.

Nothing he has done has been a compromise.

Let's see here:

1. End wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. NOPE. He has added more.
2. Being the "hand across the aisle" and uniting the two parties. NOPE.
3. Making legislation available to the general public 72 hours before being voted on. NOPE.
4. Banning all earmarks and pork from legislation. NOPE.
5. Inacting PAY-GO which means we pay as we go.. thus not needing to borrow money and raise the debt. NOPE.

Want me to go on? This has nothing to do with compromising...

EDIT: Until 2010 when the country voted in a Republican led House of Reps Obama had an open check and could do as he pleased. The Dems had free reign and didn't accomplish shit!

You probably wont even see this comment, but you sound stupid as fuck.

NEWSFLASH: most of the tax income comes from where most of the money is. Saying shit like "suchanRABuch amount of the population only paid this much, but suchanRABuch of the other part paid this much!" is incredibly stupid.

A very small amount of the population controls the majority of the money, and that same small percentage of the population pays most of the taxes. SHOCKING.

Also, to any derpfucks who just read what I wrote and are going to accuse me of being liberal and wanting to raise taxes and whatever other bullshit I didn't say, shut the fuck up and read what I said, not what I didn't say.
