You say that like it means anything at all. The percentage of the population they represent is wholly meaningless with regard to the portion of the country's tax burden they pick up.

But no, it doesn't support what you wrote.

You wrote the wealthy are paying 90% of the tax burden. When I asked if you considered ~>$50K to be wealthy, you told me I was dead wrong.

You wrote that the bottom 53% don't pay anything. When I told you it was actually the bottom 49%, who only represent 10% of the income to begin with, you again told me I was dead wrong.

but missing a payment = default, not downgrade.
a downgrade comes about because of changes in the economic environment that could hurt the ability to service debt, or changes in the underlying fundamentals of the credit.

You show a CBS poll saying that the majority of Americans want compromise. I post a poll that shows that 72% of Americans don't want the debt ceiling raised.

If a clear majority of Americans don't want the debt ceiling raised how can there be a compromise? Regardless of what either parties do they both are going to end up raising the debt ceiling and going against the wishes of the American people, no?

Clearly, that article states that the top Federal bracket is 35%. With a 35% top bracket (federal), an 8% state, FICA, etc. would clearly push a high income earner over the 50% threshold.

Wow... that really gives me an incentive to get a better job and all.. since the government will just take more.

Of course Democrats want revenue increases. The revenue increases would be taxing the rich who are already paying damn near the entire fucking tab! The Democrats are essentially saying, "raise taxes... as long as it doesn't affect me!"
