Phones swamped, servers crash as voters slam Congress

.. from what I have read the Reid bill isn't cutting anything. It is banking on the fact that the savings would be from ending our military engagements.

Reid is basically saying they won't raise taxes, they won't cut spending, and we will raise the debt ceiling. It is essentially kicking the can down the street and not fixing the problem.

The Republicans are trying to fix the problem so we don't continue to keep raising the debt ceiling to levels we cannot sustain down the road.

shut the fuck up.
I have seen countless municipalities and corporations downgraded without missing payments

S&P already said they will downgrade if we dont cut 4tril

That graph, from 2008, clearly shows when you click on the right side that the top 10% of US householRAB pay 70% of the tab. The top 25% pay 86% of the tab.

You are assuming that the person who makes $400,000 doesn't buy expensive cars, go out to eat, take vacations, buy yachts and planes, etc.

Minnesota has loaRAB of poor people... they seem to be doing just fine paying 7.125% sales tax rates... of which they voted in favor of.

I never said that.

What I said was that the majority of taxes collected are coming from a small amount of our overall population while nearly half don't contribute a God damn thing.

I can't tell you what I think a fair tax burden is. I don't work for the CBO.

What I can tell you is that with Federal, State, and FICA taxes the "wealthy" individual is paying 50%+ of their income in taxes. This doesn't take into account the massive amounts of cash collecte via sales taxes and much higher property taxes for their larger homes.

Yes, the public supports compromise. Of which neither sides are doing... which is why they have been deadlocked for awhile now. Both parties are derping out on this one.

You really can't figure that out on your own?

You brought up who was paying 90% of the overall tax burden.

The chart I posted shows earners making >$33K paying 97% and earners making >$67K paying 86%. $50K is a reasonable interpolation of where the 90% mark would be.

REGARDLESS, the point was that your understanding of who is paying the tax burden and your personal definition of "wealthy" are both way the fuck out of line with reality.
