Phone Upgrade question

Ive been with TMO for almost 2 years. I have already done an upgrade once, back in september, i checked the prices for some new phones and to me im still getting a good deal. I can get the pearl or dash for 99.99 after rebates.

My question is, if i decide to get a new phone, does that phone get programmed to me, or can i get it and then just give it to someone, like as a bday gift.
Would i be doing something that violates their policy or am i good to go?
 
well, yes, the imei number gets assigned to you, however, you can alway put your sim card in another phone. i always keep a backup in case something were to ever happen to mine.

so that being said, i would guess it would be fine if you upgraded and someone else put thier sim card in there.

you have to remember that by upgrading you are extending your contract. so if something were to happen to your phone and you are not eligable for an upgrade because of your gift you are going to be paying a lot more for your phone.

someone correct me if i'm wrong, this is just how is seems to me. haha.
 
like said above, I kept mine as backup phones... but you could do what you wanted with it. But I would not do it very quickly as in get it today and give it tomorrow. I'd wait a few weeks personally. But you should be fine since it is just renewing your contract, they shouldn't really care if you "switch back" to your previous device
