Hey, Well i have somehow managed to get 2000 text messages in two different threads. They are making me phone crash and really slow. But when i try to delete them...it crashes again?

Is there anything to do to solve this?
WIll a phone reset do it?

Please help!!!!!

If you don't mind losing the text messages, go to Home -> Menu -> Settings -> Applications -> Manage applications -> wait a few secpmds for the list to load and proper icons to display, and scroll down to Messaging (press that) -> press the Clear Data button.

This will remove all data stored in the Messaging application, including any settings, text messages, picture messages, threads, etc.

If you want to save some of the messages, you can use the SMS Backup app (the one by Christoph Studer, there are two) on the Market to backup your SMS to your GMail account.

Or, are you sure it's crashing? Does it actually say Force Close or do you have the option to wait?

Heeey, Thank you...I did this and i went back onto messages and they were still there :/ I am trying to restart my phone now...also...my android market wont connect, any ideas? x

My bad - I could have sworn that used to work, but you're right - the messages remain.

My last question was important though. If I recall correctly, when you try to delete a thread with lots of messages in it, it does come up with the Close / Wait window window, as opposed to the window that only has a "Force close" option. If you just leave your phone with that window on the screen and wait a while (half an hour maybe? Could be 5 minutes) then the phone will eventually delete them all.

Any application that doesn't respond for more than 5 seconds pops up the option to close it. It'll take longer than 5 seconds to clear 100s of messages, so just leave it alone (don't press Close) and see what happens.

For the Android Market to connect you need to be in a country that supports it... where are you? You also need a data connection (either WiFi or through the mobile network - assuming your price plan allows for data). The APN settings need to be correct for mobile data.

Can you use the Browser to look at sites? If so your data connection is fine.
