I have a friend with cingular who is due for a phone upgrade soon. Can you reccomend a good phone and how to get a good deal on it. (Being a verizon customer, I'm not that familair with cingular, sorry).

Most important features:
-Durability (it will be dropped and stuff)
-good reception
-speakerphone

Other features that would be nice, but not needed:
-bluetooth
-camera
-data capabilities

Also, where's the best place to buy?
Cingular B&M store?
Online?
BestBuy?
Circuit City?
Mall Kiosk?
Amazon.com?

Tia...

you can't have durable phones like back in the old days.. they're all fragile nowadays. if anything get a v557 or something along those lines that are cheap to replace.

I would highly recommend the Nokia 6102, and a purchase from LetsTalk.com They seem to be very reasonably priced, even for their no-contract purchases. I did get my Nokia 6102 $50 cheaper during a christmas sale at the no-contract price.

The S/E Z520a meets your needs/wants in your original post and it's a nice sturdy built phone with good reception and a speakerphone. The camera & Bluetooth capabilities are nice to have also. I did use one for a while and found the speakerphone to be just a bit too quiet for my deaf ears, other then that the phone was great. As far a the durability factor goes, just add a nice leather case and your all set.

I agree with the above post. IF you want durability use some kind of leather case. IMHO the body glove cases are very good for that, there are also some other cases one made my Phoenix that is called a rugged case. Its made for construction workers and its very durable.

Well, if you want a durable phone and don't care that much about features, I would recommend a V551 or V557. Not high end phones, but durable. You can find these pretty much anywhere, but I trust more buying them from a store. Because every phone I have ordered from the internet has malfunctioned in some way, but not one from a store. Weird but hey it's the truth.

I threw my V551 (V557) against a brick wall when I got pissed at somthing and it works perfectly fine. some scratches the the Rubber/plastic **** thats about it.

I can say that in the past year, I have bought 3 new phones myself. I can also say that I bought them online from Ebay and not yet have I had one that has malfunctioned. If you are worried about that you can add insurance to that. You also can send it off the the manufacturer and get it fixed under warranty. Just keep the old phone as a back up. You can get a much better deal online if you are just replacing the phone.

3120 or a 6010. Both durable, both get good rf. 3120 has a speaker phone, not sure about the 6010. Forget about any other features though. :P

I'm pretty sure the 3120 has a attachable camera, or you could get a 3220 with a camera built in, not sure how durable they are though
