Phone for Taiwan/North America - W810 or 6300

I'm currently in Taiwan looking for a phone since my Verizon phone could not be used over here.

I was thinking the Sony/Ericsson w810 or the nokia 6300.

Mostly looking durability and usability. Easy to navigate and good features. Don't really care about other peripheral functions like MP3 or Camera since I have a Camera and MP3 player for that.

Also, any other suggestions would be nice. I prefer bars and sliders over clamshells.

My budget is as long as it is a good deal I will get it. As in, the phone quality/functionality must justify the price not just the release date/popularity. But I would prefer something around the 200 dollar or under range.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

Nokia is always a good choice. They have good reception, good sound quality, and generally good performance. Durability is also good on them. They can get dropped quite a bit and not be any worse for the wear.

Is Taiwan a 900MHz country or an 1800MHz country?

A cheap E62 is worth it, but it isn't worth it at full price. I paid $160CAD for mine and I'm definitely happy with it. I'm always comfortable recommending Nokias - you're not going to be able to get an older one that's quad band though, so more likely than not a Quad band Nokia would cost more than a similar quality Quad band phone from another carrier.

I've heard plenty of people being happy with the W810i, but there are complaints about the keys being tiny and hard to work with for some people.
