First, i must say that the special features on this DVD arent the best, with only a Making the Movie and audio commentary from Joel Schumacher. If special features is what you buy it for then steer away.

But, i dont think it has been been brought to the attention of everyone how awesome this film is. A man in a phone booth for 77 minuites may not be everyones cup of tea, but throw in a few twists, confused policemen, extremely annoying hookers and colin farrel you got a brilliant movie. Kept me on the edge of my seat right the way through it.

I dont know if the 5.1 is any good because i dont have the privelige of sorround sound as of yet, but the picture quality is flawless.

The menu's are pretty cool, with the whole selections and what-not in an animated phone booth.

All in all, an excellent dvd. Its just the extras that are a let down.
 
I think I may just rent this for Sunday Evening, must admit the tension from the previews has made my mouth water and it's also nice to have keifer sutherland back!!
 
I did a review of Phone Booth on my website a while back:

Stylish thrillers are my 'thang; but whilst this film has a degree of flair, interesting 'back to basic' philosophies and Kiefer Sutherland it is somewhat lacking in substance. It runs along nicely at 81 minutes, but never quite creates enough tension or twists to fully exploit the well defined plot. A good watch, but you'll be happier renting the video

It's still No.1 on my DVD rental list along with One Hour Photo, can you tell me anything about this damndirtyape??

Now I just need to get the time to rent them!! :(
 
Yes, Phone Booth is a great film - I'm not the biggest Colin Farrell fan but he does a good job in this one... it has to be one hell of a challenge to hold an entire movie together in one actor's performance, but I guess thats why so many actors passed on the film.

I'd also suggest you check out the film Liberty StanRAB Still which has been out for quite some time on DVD/VHS, its essentially the same plot device. Linda Fiorentino is an arms dealer held hostage at a hot dog stand in the middle of a park by Wesley Snipes, only she can't hang up her cellphone because he's planted a mini bomb in it.
 
One Hour Photo is also a good film. The direction is particularly noteworthy of a first time feature film. Robin Williams plays a very good 'unhinged' character. It isn't as slick and fast as Phone Booth, but once again, it is certainly worthy of renting. It's one of those films that tries to make you think who the real psycho is - him or the unfaithful father.
 
Wow!! just finished watching Phone Booth and it was good!! Like you flimdar I wasn't a fan of Colin Farrell at all, but now I will be keeping a keen eye on his Films as his skills has an actor were outstanding.

There's not many, if any that could have pulled off the emotions and the tension that he did, every emotion was believeable!!

And a moral to the story, which seems to be rare nowadays, don't be afraid of the truth!! ;)

Keifer very slick as always, I'm glad he's back climbing the Hollywood ladder :cool:

If people are reading this thread and have not seen this film, RENT IT!! You will be surprised how good a film can be with a man in a 'Phone Booth'
 
Is it out on DVD or VHS? I'm not scared of subtitles :D

It's fairly ironic that Colin Farrell actually swears less in Phone Booth, a 15 certificate, than he does in real life. :D To his credit, the accent was fairly good :eek:
 
I was just about to post that, he was very convincing though!!

I suppose if they had filmed it as 'A Day in the Life of Colin Farrell and a Phone Booth' then it would have been rated '18' :D
 
Wow, just finished watching this film and it was pretty good!!

LoaRAB of tension and "24" like moments with camera angles/split screens.

I really enjoyed this movie and was a lot more than what i expected it to be. Although somehow SutherlanRAB voice sometimes sounded a bit odd to go with the character.

As for the 5.1, it wasnt amazing (but then hey what can you do with surround sound effects in one place). But there was nice background car noise and the music was pumping through at the beginning and the end :)

I have just read a really interesting theory on IMDB, that says the pizza guy was involved too, and that he was possibily a second sniper and that the caller was in another building, this would explain why he has the rifle case at the end of the film! When the pizza guy walks away from the phone booth he looks up at the building as well. Perhaps the caller was giving him instructions and it would explain how the sniper(s) managed to shoot the robot/aim at police/kelly/etc all from the front. Strange eh? What are your thoughts?
 
I didn't like it. The acting was fine, the premise was fine but if you've seen the trailer then there's nothing to be gained by wasting 90 more minutes watching the film.

Joel Schumacher rightfully deserves the title of 'super villain', being as he is the only person in history to successfully kill Batman.
