Phenylalanine - consumption DANGERS

Hi , we have just realised after many months of consuming iced tea, that it warns on the product that it contains Phenyalaine.
We have been consuming iced tea at a generous rate over the past 6 -8 months and are concerned about the hidden dangers it contains.
Are we at risk of any dangers ?
Should any blood tests be taken ?
Please advise .

Phenylalanine is an essential amino acid and is found naturally in the milk of mammals (humans, cows, etc) so it will not hurt you. However, it is not naturally found in tea. Are you drinking a prepared tea with aspartame? If so,the aspartame is what you should be concerned with as it is a synthetic sweetener which often has side effects.

Get off the aspartame! Many people have the mistaken impression that calorie-free sugar substitutes are a diet food. Nothing could be further from the truth.
If you want a little sweet in your iced tea, use Stevia. It is made from the leaves of the stevia plant, is a completely natural substance. But there again, don't overdo it. Too much of something is still too much.

Phenylalanine isn't a problem for most people. Diet drinks contain a warning about phenylalanine because it can pose a risk to people who have phenylketonuria (PKU). PKU is a rare condition in which the body cannot process phenylalanine. If you don't have PKU, don't worry about phenylalanine in your diet drinks.

However, your user name suggests you must be observant about your body and probably to what goes into it? So, just a suggestion... Buy real tea bags and learn to brew your own iced tea. It's really easy and is pennies on the dollar cheaper than prepared diet tea. It contains anti-oxidants, and most importantly, does not contain harmful chemical sweeteners.

Thanks for the advise... Can any of these side effects be harmful.
After about 6 - 8months could there be any damage? Im very fit and healthly. My farther has also been drinking this iced tea with the Phenylalanine in it, he is healthly. Could there be any serious issues that should be checked out?, and if so would these side effects naturally disappear if we stop consuming such amounts of iced tea ?
Please advise.
