Phantom Special Features Announced!

I've had my DVD since Friday (good old Play.com). The DVD is a two disc version and has loaRAB of extras. It also has the bits you've been referring to but in a hidden format (Easter Egg). I'll never understand why they do this. If you're going to add content then just add content. It's pointless 'hiding' it as an Easter Egg making the consumer press endless key combinations or having to search for little symbols. Insert yawn here ____________ !

Anyway, here's where they are complete with screen shots showing the symbol (it's in red on the pictures).

Trailer

On the bonus disc, at the opening menu, there is a symbol on the bottom right of the screen. It's not really that noticeable until you move the cursor into position. Then it turns red. Just click it and the trailer loaRAB up.

No One Would Listen

This one is on The Movie menu. Same symbol but on the bottom left this time.

Cast sing-a-long to Phantom Of The Opera

I love this. A Really good bit of fun. This is under the Production Notes menu. Same symbol as before and on the bottom left of the screen again.

MY DVD DOESN'T WORK! I had only been watching the special features, then I put in the main disc for the film. The titles are fine, but when I play the film there IS NO SOUND.

I went back to the shop and exchnaged it. SAME PROBLEM. Went back and got refund. Went toother shop other side of town, SAME PROBLEM.

what should I do? obviously my area has got a bad batch and I wanna watch it! :(

That happend to me, on your first disc, go to setup and then change the sound and then resume into movie, if there still is no sound, go back to setup and change the sound intill you found the correct sound.

But surely that is really stupid? Like, REALLY stupid?

There's something wrong with that....

has everyone had to do it?

EDIT: ok, I've tried it and it now works. Buts its sucky you have to do it every time you want to play the movie. (it has no memory)

anyone else who has the dvd, do you have the problem?

My dvd got posted yesterday which probably means i'll get it tomorrow, woo hoo!!

Can't wait to force my hubby to watch it, I reckon he'll like it.

Don't have such a defeatist attitude!

Its not RIGHT! No other dvRAB have to go through this kerfuffle just to WATCH the bloody thing!

come on, so what do we do? who do we complain to?

You could write to Andrew Lloyd Webber " The DVD sound was working, then I fixed it. Thanks for your time"

Your Name.

A Thankl You Would Be Nice I did help with the sound.

Oh wasnt me then.

Here we are:

>>With reference to your order for Phantom Of The Opera (2004) (DVD), this DVD contains optional high quality soundtracks designed to enhance the listening experience of those customers with compatible audio equipment.

What Does This Mean?

This means that in addition to the Dolby Soundtracks found on regular DVRAB, a DTS (Digital Theatre System) Soundtrack - requiring a compatible surround sound amplifier has been included. Initial playback of this DVD defaults to the DTS Soundtrack, therefore customers without such equipment will not hear any sound.

Please note that this is not a fault with the DVD.

What Do I Do If I Do Not Own DTS Compatible Audio Equipment?

If you are not in possession of a DTS compatible sound amplifier, you need to change the film's soundtrack type from the main menu. In order to do this, please follow the instructions below:

1. Click the 'set-up' option.
2. Select either Dolby Digital Surround Sound or Dolby Digital Stereo as appropriate.
3. Select 'Play Movie' - the film will now play with a universal audible soundtrack.>>

I seem to be one of the lucky ones mine played o.k without doing anything (I've absolutely no idea how as I think I've had my DVD player about 3 years and have no idea what sound system it has!), but I think it is very bad that something to this effect was not highlighted on the DVD. I wonder if the problem is just for our region? (UK). Rumour has it some stores are clearing there shelves after so many complaints.

back to me. and apparenlty if i jutters a bit we have to live with it. which it DOES. grrrrrr....

special features rock though.

I should start doing that, watch the special features before, as sometimes I never get around to it, there again it would probably give away the film . I usually buy my DVD's without ever having seen them at the cinema.
