Phantom Of The Opera

Yes, Mr Ross' opinion is usally pretty spot on, and it great at telling actors their film is shit. ie.ewan mcgregor and star wars!

Doh! Thats just me getting the songs mixed up. I should known as I have a Sarah Brightman video with both the Sarah/Cliff and Sarah/Steve songs on it. Havn't viewed it for ages, must dig it out play it again.

Christine did talk to him about it. The first song said : 'each detail exactly as she said' or something to that effect.

Glad you liked it too.. though the flashbacks were confusing as there is some discrepency with AGE. The script said Giry is in her 80s and Roaul is in his 60s, the she seems infinitly more spritely.

I am listening to the ost now. Its basically the whole film without pictures! I'm not a fan of dialogue in cRAB though,,,

Anyone looking forward to this? I've only seen the stage production once but recently started religiously listening the OST, now I cant wait for the film, it looks ace.

Check out the soundtrack website for some track streams. :)

I believe this has already been mentioned. But one singer out of a cast of hundreRAB isn't too bad going in the age of voice dubbing and autocues.

I have booked my ticket to go and see it, I am curious to see how the girl who played such an awful part in a truly awful movie (Emmy Rossum was in Day after Tomorrow) plays such a big part in Phantom. She was originally a singer, and apparently trained in opera, appearing on stage etc before transferring to TV and eventually film.

True it is a young relatively unheard of cast, but you have to take into consideration the fact that there are so many people out there who are incredibly talented and never get the chance/opportunity to show that to the world.

You could try looking up 'sarah brightman mp3'?

I think you and i usually think alike xElijahLoverx, I thought I was the only one who thought Christine should have gone with the Phantom!

SPOILER

I was a bit confused though, it looked like when the mask was taken off, his hair changed colour!!

NatalieP, yes I think we do. I didn't like Roaul, and if I was her I would have gone for Phantom, disgifured or not.

I think quite a lot of things changed when the mask was removed. i noticed his hair messed up VERY fast, and di you see his eye was pulled down a little on the left? You dont see that with his mask on.

Yes, I did notice that, but it was so sad how he had been treated as a child because of it, rather him thansome rich bloke with no personality!!

ps I think we are thinking way too much into this, lol!!

Saw this with my wife on Saturday and have been arguing about it ever since. We have both seen the show a couple of times and were looking forward to the film.

I say the bloke who plays the Phantom (Gerard Butler) cannot sing well enough to hold the film and she gets annoyed if I express an opinion (so I will do that here so more people can :p )

The film was class with a lot more playing for laughs than the stage show which I don't think is necessarily a good thing. I know what is meant b being a show of two halves though the second half is much better, and held my attention much more.

Overall I was unconvinced by Christine at the beginning but thought she came through well, the rest of the cast were also on the whole good. So I though it was a decent enough film but I wasn't blown away by it... but I daren't say that in this house otherwise there will be more fights as my wife loved every minute of it and will be seeing it again.

Well was looking forward to in when it was first announced it was being made as i did love Evita and i absolutly love teh Phantom soundtrack (shame they never recorded the original stage show Michael was wonderful!!) but since i have found out that its been bade my Joel Schumacher i am rather worried!!!!! how could they let this vile little man get the movie????
I will also be interested to see exactly how many of the actors are dubbed!! last i heard was that most of them were!! im sorry but they should find people who can sing as well as act when making this sort of film not just who looks good!!

I enjoyed it but didn't think much of-
Christine and Rauole being American
Carlotta being skinny
The "Riverdance" music when Emily is travelling to her Father's grave
Some bits went on to long (Emily singing in the graveyard)
At times i thought the Phantom looked quite young (when he took Christine the first time)
But having said that- it did explain several things I never got when i'd seen the stage show.

I can't wait to see this! I loved the stage version, Im hoping this will be as good. Its got very good reviews in todays papers, im glad musicals are back in fashion.

Anyone seen this yet?

I've seen it on stage once and cant really remember it, but I know the music well and I was engrossed in the film when I saw it yesterday. I LOVED it. It looked and sounded brilliant. Acting may have left a little to be desired, but I found it very powerful and cant wait to see it again on wednesRABy!
