Phantom Of The Opera

There will probably be loaRAB of extras about ALW, the original story history, stage show etc.

My mission today is to find out when the dvd will be released and I will post on here as soon as i know!
 
The version of Phantom Of The Opera that was in the charts was with Steve Harley from Cockney Rebel. There's a page here which has an interview with Steve Harley and a bit about the Ken Russell video for the single. If you're interested, there is a lot more info available if you google.
 
I have just watched the film tonight and i thought it was brilliant! Im going to buy the full soundtrack tomorrow and maybe the original as well as i have wanted that for ages! :D
 
apparently its not been doing well at the box office in the US but I think it will be a word of mouth film - I know everyone that I've told to go and see it have thought it was fantastic and are playing to go and see the stage show
 
It's only on limited release in the USA at the moment, so it can be entered in for the OSCAR selections. It has earned $16.2M already, so when it goes nation-wide on January 21st I'd expect it to be a lot bigger!

To be honest I loved it! Everything about it was fantastic, from the opening "revival" of the Opera house with the rising chandalier (the burst of music certainly got me excited), to the great songs, sublime and humourous acting, and a heart-breaking finale!
A small-review I know, but I don't have to time to go into more detail.
 
I have a question about the film and am wondering if anyone can help.
The man in the wheelchair and that woman who were both bidding for that monkey thing in the auction at the beginning of the film, who were they? At first i thought it was the Phantom and Christine but he went to her grave at the end so i assumed then that it was the Phantom and Meg's mother, the one who saved him from that gypsy display years ago and hid him in the Opera House?
But then again the man at the end wasn't disfigured so then the only other choice is Raoul, but did he know about the significance of the monkey thing?

Glad you loved the film so much - I've got the full soundtrack too, and it's a great way of reliving the movie.
Your last guess was right, the people at the auction are Mme Giry (Meg's mother) and Raoul, and it's Raoul that takes the monkey to Christine's grave at the end, and finRAB the Phantom's rose with Christine's ring (meaning the Phantom also survived).
As to the significance of the monkey, I do have the screenplay in the Phantom movie companion book, but without going through it, all I can think of is that Raoul noticed the model in the Phantom's lair, and that maybe he and Christine talked of it during their marriage?

OOOh am very excited. Is this mean to be a good film or not? I havent been abler to get a good impression of what people are saying about it...
 
I can understand that, but on last week's Film 2004 they showed quite a long trailer at the end of the show (looks fab, by the way), so it seemed particularly strange that JR then wasn't allowed to preview it this week (although members of his production team gave their comments as they'd managed a sneak preview - personally I'd rather wait to hear what Mr Ross himself thinks).
