I was always advised never to use additives...but that was in some hi-perf German cars and not sure if they were educated warnings or not.

It surprised me to have my techs advising the Chevron stuff too...but I guess a) it's good and b) bikes are different than cars and I am constantly learning the differences.

If I didn't respond to your post it was because I didn't know how to or it didn't apply...but I can say that my techs love Klotz motor oil, it's all they use!

I concur with your well researched (and well written!) assessment. High Octane is a waste of your $$ and does not provide better performance. Race gas for race day-yes, every day gas for every day riding... That comes from some of the best European techs I know (and a friend whose family owns a chain of gas stations), not from my anti-oil & gas company sentiment. But Starbucks and bottled water companies has proven over and over that we will pay a premium for what we "think" we are getting.

Thanks man...and thanks for chiming in. This is something so counterintuitive and against what a vast amount of us have come to believe that I thought there would be more controversy than this...

I don't doubt the level of intelligence that is on this board...amazing though how much ignorance there is when it comes to things like this! (me included)
