This just shows how dumb some Americans really can be.

There is an online petition to "prevent director Peter Jackson 'naming' the Lord Of The Rings sequel The Two Towers" and it "has obtained over 1,200 signatures".

This is because "the title "is clearly meant to refer to the attacks on the World Trade Centre".

WTF!

So does this mean the next partition is going to be for the ban of Towering Inferno or Escape from New York?

Hell give it a couple of year and they'll be glorifing the whole thing like vietnam, pearl harbour or the Titanic. Where will their sensitivity be then?

Is there a partition to support the correct title or apposie any name change?
 
The next petitions are

1. To stop the emergency services using 911 as the number as that is a clear referance to the attacks.

2. KFC to withdrawn the Tower burger.
 
Isn't this just totally daft.

The WTC was known as the Twin Towers, not the Two Towers.

LOTR 2 has been known at the Two Towers since the 1950's
 
LOL - please tell me thats a joke. People can be so petty mided about things like this. It really is politically correctedness gone mad. The totle has nothing whatsoever to do with the attack on the WTC, which was called the TWIN Towers. I really dont belive there would be people who are stupid enough to sign such a petition, nevermind start one up!! I hope to God that noone takes it seriously.
 
Well, really, it was the 'World Trade Center'. And weren't the 'towers' known as WTC1 and WTC2. Where is tower mentioned in there? How can LOTR be related to it?

Most Americans are good, well natured, level headed people. And then there's the stereotypes.

Didnt stop other fast food chains from promoting 'Flame grilling' again, or MacApple Pies whose interiors take weeks to cool down
 
Talk about defeating the object.. those people are trying to stop people reminding the public of the WTC atrocity but in fact most normal people are getting on with their lives (i hope) and these people with the petition are just bringing the WTC back to our thoughts (I hope you all know what I mean).

They should get a life.

If it prevents another hideously boring film being made, I'll sign it. Rambling plot, poor construction and seemingly endless scale....I'm feeling sleepy just thinking about it.
 
It's been 8 months since the TWIN (NOT 2) came down, people should get over it! The film title was decided way before what happened in America!
 
This has to be the most stupidest and selfish thing I have seen for years. I am sick and tired of everything being attributed to Sep 11th and everyone being careful because of it. It WAS a tradgedy, but not the Americans know how it feels!

Get over it.
 
The Two Towers is bad enough but, look at some of these other film titles:

Straight Story (homophobic)

The African Queen (homophobic and racist)

To Kill a Mockingbird (cruelty to animals)

Batman and Robin (cruelty to cinemagoers
