Petition for Saban to buy the Fox Kids library back from Disney

Disney (via Saban/Fox Kids) in the US and I believe worldwide and CanWest in Canada.

The Addams Family's rights are scattered across the entertainment landscape. The original series is owned by MGM, the animated series are owned by Time Warner as are the distribution rights to the Addams Family Reunion movie. The first two films are owned by Viacom and the upcoming animated film will be owned/distributed by Universal Pictures. The characters themselves are owned by Barbara Estella Barb (The Lady Colyton) and Marilyn Addams.

Half right. Attack of the Killer Tomatoes was a part of the Marvel Animation titles that Saban picked up when they bought that unit. However, Saban Entertainment is the co-producer and distributor of Camp Candy. DiC only co-produced it but don't hold any distribution rights. So, Cookie Jar doesn't own it, only BVS Entertainment (read: Disney).

Marilyn was Tee, and she's dead as well (she's been dead since 2002). so, I think The Lady Colyton is the overseer of the foundation.

MGM. They got it about 1999 from Cr?dit Lyonnais who acquired Fries Entertainment, the producer of the special, three years earlier.

Jeff, pigs are now flying in the sky: Power Rangers, Beetleborgs, and VR Troopers are coming to Netflix this week, meaning Saban Brands has reacquired rights to the latter two. As to why, I believe it could be similar to PR's situation - both are TV properties co-owned by Toei, meaning Disney would be writing checks for their airings. Disney probably figured that those things could be someone else's problem now, and thus sold the rights. There was also a rumor of a lack of control of the PR property by Disney, in this 2009 Rangerboard post, the same case that would have been for Beetleborgs and VR Troopers. Now, if this took place after the Power Rangers deal in May 2010, I can imagine Disney would at least attempt to put an ironclad clause against the two shows going to Nickelodeon or its family of networks. Plus, Disney goes some money they can use for projects on Disney XD from two series they would likely never air. There is one property that Toei has that I can really see Disney trying to buy the entire rights of: the 1978 Spider-man live-action toku show, to help bring some of the Spider-man rights under Disney/Marvel control.

I actually think that when Saban acquired Power Rangers, he probably acquired all of the live action series he did. Both Beetleborgs and VR Troopers have the Saban Brands logos at the end, same as all of the Power Rangers series now, and since the logos appear to have all been added at the same time, it would make sense for them to have been acquired at the same time. It's possible Saban Brands actually acquired all the Toei properties, including Digimon, but we'll have to wat and see if Saban Brands ends up doing Digimon Xros Wars to see if that's true. If he did get all the Toei properties, then I'm personally hoping the Digimon series make their way onto Netflix as well.

If Saban Brands had the additional TV show rights and didn't mention them when they acquired Power Rangers, I would find that very surprising as most times, companies want to show off the strengths of all the properties they have, and it's not like BBB nor VR Troopers weren't known shows, just not as widely known as PR currently is.

From this Rangerboard page, apparently, SCG Power Rangers LLC has issued copyright takedown orders for both Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog (from RitoRevolto) and Masked Rider (from mmartinam).

I do agree, but I don't think that Disney actually sold the rights to the Saban brands. I think it's more likely that the Disney rights expired, reverting back to Toei, and then Saban reacquired them from Toei or else they got all their live action shows when they got Power Rangers. Which of the two is most likely could be debated, but I don't see how they managed to upload all of them to Netflix at the same time if they didn't get the rights at the same time.

If that assumption turns out to be true, that would be awesome! It would be great to have the first 4 seasons of the Digimon dub legally streaming somewhere, or better yet, released on DVD.

It looks like the first season of Digimon is going to be released on DVD, in Australia, pretty soon. It makes me wonder where the Australian company got the rights from, maybe from Toei?

If that's the case, I wonder if Toei would like to offer the DVD rights to some American company. I would recommend Well Go USA, but since they released Digimon Data Squad: Collection Two on DVD last year, and there's no sign that they're going to release a third collection of Digimon Data Squad, it makes me wonder if they would be interested in releasing the older Digimon seasons, on DVD.

As for Digimon Xros Wars, I would love for it to come to America, someday. I can imagine that either Saban or Toei would work on the dub, and try to get it on TV. If the series ever comes to American TV, I hope that it would either air on Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, or Nicktoons, especially the former two, since then the series could get the best exposure on either network.
