Petit Larceny charge in Virginia.?

I was at a store today with my friend, who is a 17 year old with a clean record. I'm 19 with a clean record. I paid for $74 and some change worth of stuff while my friend stole pants for herself and a lingerie top for me. The stolen items totaled up to $34 and some change. She was arrested first and told the police officer and the loss prevention officer that she would take the blame for everything so I don't get in trouble, but once handcuffed told them that the lingerie was mine. I was then asked if it was mine and admitted it was for me. I was then arrested also for petit larceny.

The officer took me outside and told me because I was cooperative and didn't lie about anything she would not take me to the station. Instead, I was given a summons for court next month. My friend claims that she was not given a summon and that she was told the whole thing would likely be settled out of court and she'd only have to pay a fine and maybe do probation.

I do not have a record. I'm 19. I did not actually have any stolen merchandise on me, but when my friend was stealing it in the fitting room I was with her and they saw that on camera. My friend is 17 and also doesn't have a record.

What would likely be the outcome for the both of us?

Please don't send me what petit larceny is. I know that in Virginia it is theft of an item under $200.00. I also know it can carry a sentence of up to a year and a large fine ($2,500 I believe).

If your curious about why I had her steal the lingerie if I had money it's because I didn't know how much money was on the card I was using. It's a STUPID reason, I know. Believe me, I've learned from my mistake.
