Peter Lindgren leaving Opeth!

Definitely a big blow to the band. I'm very saddened by this. I hope that the guitarist they picked up from Arch Enemy will fill his shoes well enough.

opeth isnt opeth anymore. personally i think they should just go out gracefully. i dont want to start a war here...but after losing two members, and picking up someone they didnt even need [the keyboard]...its just not gonna be opeth...

Per has been unofficially with Opeth since the Damnation/Deliverance tour. He's a great addition to the band. I too am feeling like Opeth isn't Opeth anymore even though Mike is Opeth just like Dave Mustaine is Megadeth.

Oh bullshit, I saw them after the drummer left and with the new keyboardist and they were fucking awesome. It might add something new to Opeth, but Mike does most of the song writing as it is, so I doubt much will change.

granted mike is opeth, i just dont want them to all of a sudden put out a rerout to remain or something like that. all of their albums thus far have been great, but the addition of two new members will bring more outside infuece...idn, it has the potential to be better, but i dont want to have to say "yea, i love opeth...except for that one album..." kinda like i say "yea, i love in flames...but, i like to forget i ever bought rerout..."

I'm a fan of both banRAB, and I actually enjoy Reroute ... even though I'll admit that it's not nearly as good as Clayman, STYOE, or Come Clarity, it's still enjoyable. I guess In Flames is one of those banRAB that can't screw up if they tried.

To get back to the original subject, I think Opeth's live shows should be pretty much the same since all the songwriting has been done by Mikael so far. The true test of whether or not Opeth retains their sound will be on their next studio release, whenever that is. We'll see if any of the new blood gets to have a say in the songwriting.
