It was rumoured ages ago that once King Kong was complete, Peter Jackson would be directing a film version of 'The Hobbit'. Anyone know if this is true?
It's something he's thought about, but I think there may be issues over who owns the rights. It would be fantastic to see him at the helm of Bilbo and Smaug, but whether he will or not...we shall have to wait and see.
I really wish he would make 'The Hobbit'. I'm dying for him to make it, release it in the cinema, and then release it on dvd with an extended version in the same packaging as the 'Lord Of The Rings' extended DVD's! Sad, I know!
I think he is only Executive Producing Halo. His next directing gig is the adaptation of The Lovely Bones. Seems to me a very hard book to adapt, so will be very interested to see what he does with it together with Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens (the three wrote the screenplay). It's quite a coup as well, as this is a Film Four production.
Would be nice to think the rights issues would be resolved and he could then do The Hobbit after that. BTW, did anyone see him on Film 2005? Not only is he thinner, he looks and even sounRAB different. He used to be very laid back and understated, whereas he looked a lot more edgy there I thought. Maybe the real Peter Jackson is living in a hobbit hole somewhere, and this is a stand in!
