Peter Greenaway to direct next Bond film

Only kidding of course......but any posters have any thoughts or suggestions.
After the disastrous choice of Marc Forster, I wonder if they have anyone in mind.
I suppose they could do worse than hire Martin Campbell again.
Also does anyone else think its time to jettison David Arnold as composer.
I say its time time to bring back the great John Barry.

Leave Arnold alone. He's doing a grand job I reckon.
Christopher Nolan would be an obvious choice for director but it's unlikely to happen. Paul Greengrass would also be great had he not already done Bourne.
Alfonso Cuaron perhaps? Children of Men proved he can handle exciting, suspenseful action and drama with ease.

Considering that I thought QoS was a sensational Bond film which I thought had overtones from the classic bond films such as From Russia with Love (boat chase scene) and Goldfinger (dead woman on the bed covered in oil) I don't think Marc forster did a bad job.

Alfonso Cuaron would be a brilliant, brilliant choice. However I would hope Wilson and Broccolli give the director full control. David Arnold is doing a fine job. His song Play Dead is the best James Bond song never used in a James Bond film.

what :confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

just remarking that as john barry, is dead, bringing him back for composing duties is gonna prove difficult

er, apparently he is not dead:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

now I am even more confused

I swear to god, I saw a news artcile on BBC news sometime last year and heard on the radio that the legendary composer of some of the finest film music, going had died

must be going nuts

how about KATHRYN BIGELOW?
have a different perspective on that "dinosaur"?

yeah, she'll have M partering bond on missions, kicking ass for britain :D

but martin campbell would be the obvious choice

I think it would be cool if Martin Campbell came back for the first film of Daniel Craig's successor, so he's kickstarted the Brosnan era, the Craig era and the next one! He shouldn't direct the third Craig film, it's too soon.

That's the problem for me. You can't rely on homage to earlier movies to make a new one work. I think QoS felt like an 1960s Bond movie, but for me the pacing was off. It just didn't engage me.

I love Barry's work but I'm of the opinion that a noughties Bond shouldn't be soundtracked like a sixties one just to please the purists.
I'm guessing you're no fan of Hans Zimmer either? ;)

A Greenaway Bond would be very interesting, and in a way quite appropriate. Bond was always a bit of a loner - he never had any close frienRAB, relatives or a wife - and Greenaway's films always seemed to have an unpleasant atmosphere of emotional alienation: no one really cared about the suffering of others.
A Nyman soundtrack would be great, but I remember hearing that he won't work with Greenaway anymore since they had a falling out. Phillip Glass would be a good second choice.

Is there a reason why Martin Campbell didn't direct QoS? He redefined the Bond style and then Marc Forster messed it up again.

Thinking laterally, how about someone like Tom Twyker (Run Lola Run, The International)? Or (maybe a bit too lateral?) Spike Lee, who can do action, sex and violence and has a brilliant visual style.

The problem is the lifestyle stuff, the fast cars and faster women. It neeRAB a director who can make us forget what a ridiculous character the movie Bond really is. Martin Campbell got it exactly right in Casino Royale. Maybe Jon Favreau has the right attitude?
