Peter and the Wolf (2007 version) Talkback (Spoilers)

Great Performances on PBS is showing the version that the won Best Animated Short Oscar this year. I'm really impressed by it so far and love the character designs. Considering the last "real" version of it I saw was the classic Disney cartoon, I must say I'm rather impressed.

Anyways, watch it now if you happen to see about it, or feel free to talk about it if you have already.

Jeez, I have this on right now and I forgot how much I love the wolf's theme. I listened to the entire score in elementary school and it always stuck.

That was a really good short. I can see why it won the Oscar. I did feel kind of bad since
Duck stays dead
, but the creator justifies the reasoning behind that in the making of that aired after the short.

In case you missed it, you can check PBS's web page for re-airing times. They seem to be re-airing it at 11PM EDT tonight and a few other times through this weekend, but check your local listings to verify.

Otherwise, there's no legal means to view this short online, so if it happens to air in your area at your local theater, be sure to check it out.

I have to say, I watched this last night and I really loved the animation and puppet design. It's just a sad little reminder that Europe cares about a million times more for animation than the US. It just looked so beautifully done. I really miss seeing stuff like that.

That said, I think I liked the Russian animated short "Little Red Riding Hood" a little bit more. The story was a little more interresting, at least. If you've never seen it, I suggest you look for it somewhere. It's just absolutely hillarious.
