Hi Pepper - I'm so sorry to hear the news, I will pray for you, I know its not easy. You always have your frienRAB here on the board to talk to when you need some comfort or just to vent.

(((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))))))

Hope you have a good weekend and try to keep your mind off that, I know its hard, I try to do wordbooks, look at tv and read to try to keep my mind off my pain.

Your in my thoughts, Marie

Hi Guys! My appt did not go well and I just wanted to let you know that I have been confirmed as Failed Back Syndrome and have been encouraged to seek out pain management. I am just trying to stay positive and am right now just trying to keep my spirits up.

Thank you for all your love and support.

Pepper, it's been quite a while since I've been on this board and I came today looking for an update about your condition. I'm so very, very, sorry that you've been hit with this diagnosis. It's a hard thing to accept. The surgery I had in '97, a 360, at L4-5 also ended up being FBSS and it's the reason for the intrathecal pump I have now. Tho many things were tried to help me, and tho I fought having the implant for 3 years after first being approached about it, I know now it's the best medical decision I've ever made.

I hope the PM you have in mind will work out well for you and that he will find ways to relieve the pain.

Things don't always work out the way we want them to, but there's always hope for help. God never closes a door without opening a window for us....I fully believe that and it has helped me through many hard times. Look for the window He has opened for you and I'll be praying that it will be this new PM.

God bless.

Carol

Hi Pepper, I am so sorry that you got this diagnosis. I know you were really hoping for a cure but you know just because there isn't a cure today doesn't mean there won't be something down the road. I know I am hoping that my situation will improve too. Pain Management isn't so bad... I actually look forward to going to my PM appointments. My doctor is really nice and she always makes me feel like she understanRAB what I am going through and is 100% on my side. I told her about my mom's compression fractures ( she has osteoporosis) and she told me to bring her in and we'd get her on the go again. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers, Hang in there!! Dee

Pepper

I am so sorry about you having Failed Back Syndrome:( My husband was diagnosed with it several years ago. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Hang in there.

Hugs Nadine

aww Pepper, I am sorry that you didn't have more encouraging news from your appointment. Such a let down for you. Ok, now you have to find the BEST Pain Mgmt. Dr. in your area, if you don't already have him/her...and get the best meRAB. for your pain. With the proper medications, you can be comfortable...and live life...maybe not as actively, but you can enjoy what you can do...and be comfortable. I guess what you have received as a diagnosis, is one that any one of us on this board can receive...so we are going to all learn along with you, what it takes to treat and control your condition. I am sending you very gentle hugs and prayers...for you and your family...
Leslie

Pepper,

Sorry to hear about your situation. In the past, you have helped and answered a few of my questions and I just wanted to pass on a couple of places since I think we are near the same area for you to consider. My situation is not anywhere near as complex as your situation is but I've had good results with a Dr. Dade (trying to stay within guidelines here) at capital spine and pain mgt (they have several offices in the Northern VA area) as well as a surgeon and pm doc named dr. Roserablat who I see in the Woodbridge area but he also has an office in Falls Church I think.

The capital spine place is where I've been getting the cortisone injections since Noveraber and for me, they have been helping and Dr. Roserablat was the first surgeon I visited and has been the one who told me he didn't think my situation had a good surgical fix (my lower back but my neck issues are a different story) but has been supportive for helping me in other areas and for pm. His office is usually very easy to get an appt with and does not make you wait for months to be seen unlike some other specialists I've consulted over the last three years since things really went bad for me.

Again, sorry to hear about your situation.

Alan.

so sorry about that pepper that is what they said aout my first surgery. We will see what the outcome to this one is. I hate it thinking this one is going to be good cause they did both the anterior and posterior together but i have heard of people have had this and it still failed. I am trying to be positive though. I wish you well and good luck.

Hi diet,

Just left you reply on the pm board for one of my posts. I am so sorry to hear you have gotten this diagnosis. I hope and pray you will get the help you need in PM. With that said, it is great that you are asking around on this board. I lucked up with my 2nd PM doc and I only got him because the first one was put on admin leave for a road rage incident. (nice huh?) Anyway, my guy moved away and referred me to this other one he had never met but heard good things about. I liked him at first but he seems to be on another planet now and I am not happy. Make sure he is listening to you and actually hearing what you say. If you have to call to speak to the nurse and don't get a response by the next day that is not a good sign either. I hope you never have to experience the negative side but they are out there.

Good luck,
Lisa

Oh Pepper I'm so very sorry :( If there is any good in this though, it is that you at least now know what you are dealing with. You know what you need to do and you can now concentrate on managing the pain as best you can so you can move ahead with your life. No more wondering. Keep the faith my friend, I can't imagine the disappointment you are feeling right now. I am praying that you will find the strength to deal with all this. I care about you Pepper and just wish I could give you a big hug. Here is the next best thing....... ((((((((Pepper))))))) Take care and keep us posted.

Deb

Diet, Sorry to hear that. I'm in the same boat. Although, no Dr. has actually come out and used the term "Failed Back Surgery". I've just gone through Pain Management without success and my Phy. Med. Dr. is treating me now for Chronic Pain as he says there is nothing left to do. I will see him every month for pain meRAB. Next visit I will ask him if I have "Failed Back Surgery". Would be nice to have an official diagnosis. The PM Dr. did in not so many worRAB say it was but not officially if that makes sense.

Everyone is different. Some people make out excellent from Pain Management. I think it has to do with how extensive your surgery was etc.

Good luck with everything.

((((((HUGS)))))))), Pepper...I'm so sorry. I know it's not what you wanted to hear, but like Deb said, at least you now know exactly what you're dealing with. I know when I finally get a diagnosis for something, I get upset, but on the other hand, I am also happy because I finally have an answer. No one wants to be in that kind of situation, but now you can do everything possible to try to manage what you've been unfortunately dealt. It's tough, and I know it will take some time to accept this and it is normal to feel sad & down, angry, and confused. But somehow you will get through it day by day and always remeraber that we are all here for you no matter how you are feeling!

Pepper, I'm sorry to hear this. I'm sure you're feeling pretty down right now. Do you know anyone in your area who goes to a PM doctor? Or do you know any nurses who can give you a good referral? Once you find one you "click" with, at least you'll have someone consistently trying to keep your pain under control. I know getting rid of the pain was the goal. God must have a plan to use you in some special way in someone else's life. He doesn't bring us trials for no reason. He'll prune you and others through the difficult times as you keep your eyes on Him.

Praying for you, dear Pepper!
Emily

Pepper I am so sorry about your diagnosis because I know you were hoping for better.:( One of the things that I have noticed on this board is the encouragement that you have given to so many even when you weren't feeling well yourself. Well it is now our time to help you through this difficult time so please let us know what we can do for you. You have my prayers and well wishes and I know you can get through this too.:)

Take care

Pepper ~

Welcome to the club. I'm sorry to hear you've been given such unfortunate news. I remeraber so clearly the day my doctor delivered the same, wonderful news to me. I was a 29 yr old mother to a 1 yr old at the time. The only advice I can think to offer is just take it one day at a time and thank God each day for your children, they make the bad days easier to get through.

I wish you only the best. May God Bless You.

peppers(((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))) I hope you can find a good pain clinic, i know my stepmom did and has gotten lots of relief after being failed. Take care, Monkey

According to 2 spinal surgeons there is nothing surgically that can be done unfortunately. :(

IBAKE&PRAY has given her pm name and I am trying to get a referral to him.

I will get thru this - I suspect there will be a couple of hard days until everything is ironed out.
