there will never be a place for a musician to be overrated as long as there is music. its because the beauty of creating music in its purely subjective purpose is inciting opinion and enjoyment of what is appealing to YOU, not someone else.
there is no technically RIGHT way to make a sound with an instrument, nor is there a technically CORRECT way for that sound to sound.
Sure, there is a loose guideline, that outlines which notes correspond well to other notes when played in a certain key, but that doesnt mean something can't sound appealing when played off key in a random sucession of notes. Thats he great thing, it's all subjective to the listener and thats why this debate is pointless. things like originalty dont change the fact something sounRAB pleasureable, so why fight it, just enjoy it.
music should be celebrated for its diverse and purposely opinion inciting nature, not catagorized and dissected into what is 'correct' or 'sloppy'.
thats what makes music great, the possibility of infinite opinions between listeners.
