I'm a high school student and need a decent car. My goal is 10 or less years old and less than 150k miles. The newer and less miles, the better. BUT my budget is $3500.

I've never had to pick out a car before! My parents aren't helpful. Please help me out and answer my questions. I don't know anything about picking out cars. Please don't let me get screwed by some crappy dealership. You've probably been in my shoes before.

QUESTIONS:
1. I've been looking on craigslist. What's another website where I can look for used cars in my local area?

2. Does high mileage always mean it's bad? Are there any exceptions?

3. Considering the fact that money is severly limited for me, would it be better to buy a more expensive car with no problems, or a cheaper car with a few problems and pay to fix them myself?

4. What is a brand of car that is less expensive than usual but still puts out somewhat reliable cars?

5. Is Saturn good or do they have a bad rep?

6. As a minor, what other ways besides having a part time job could I make money?

Please help. I need it!

1. Autotrader, Local Newspaper, People in the Neighborhood.
2. no, it doesn't mean its always bad it means that there might be more problems with the car, like you might have to replace old parts. But it also matters how the person took care of the car.
3. It depends on you, but if you mean a car with less mileage, then that is always best but it depends on your situation, like if you really need a car at the moment.
4. Honda, & Toyota.
5. Saturn is good but their not as good as most import cars.
6. Full-time job?
