People who are anti-union are the biggest idiots ever

Unions directly fund the democratic party and the democratic party is an instrument of the top 0.1% (or "ruling elites")

It's sad you are this confused

Fine, let's talk broad and theoretically:

I hate to break it to you, but unions are a part of the free market. They're really not much different from any other company. Alcoa provides raw aluminum, Texas Instruments provides microcontrollers, unions provide labor.

Unions do not have a monopoly on labor. The types of labor they provide are available as non-union labor as well. Nobody is forced to use union labor, unless they've previously agreed to contracts which force them to use union labor. Nobody is forced to be in a union, everyone is free to choose who to work for, be it a union or non-union company.

My younger son went from full time to 39 hours so he wouldn't have to be in the union. His major complaint is that seniority rules keep shitty employees on the payroll and making more than they should.

The only purpose modern unions serve is to make the people running them rich.

Would you rather get paid $25/hr and that's the end of it, or take home $35/hr while the company is paying $15/hr on top of that to your union?

edit: and most of that $15/hr is going to your pension and health coverage

Plenty of people in skilled trades willfully sign up for unions, even get on waiting lists for apprenticeships because the training and pay are vastly superior to the alternatives.

if the young weren't forced to join they would never voluntarily sign up. you're paying dues for the first 30 years that go directly to pay retirement pensions for the older guys. the benefit of course is that one day that will be you collecting that pension and some other young guy paying. but it would never work if there wasn't some kind of pressure to join.

@ not realizing that the world isnt a black-and-white place where unions as a whole are either absolutely good or absolutely bad.

also, without a union contract in place, multiple workgroups under the same urabrella company can be whipsawed against each other to make wage and benefit concessions. with contracts, that shit doesnt happen as much

No

"You don't protect people against racism with racist legislation, ie. hate crimes/affirmative action etc. etc. You don't give up your rights to freedom for more security ie. wiretaps/TSA/spying on citizens/detaining indefinitely etc. etc."

Those are progressive programs, not reactionary ones.

A reactionary program would be to fix racism by paying the blacks to gtfo and forcibly deporting the rest
