People seem to expect so much unrealistic stuff, just because they are sooo damn cool. Example of the day?

This guy left his "500" dollar glasses in his room yesterday and checked out. So today, before they drive 300 miles back home, he stops by to ask about them. So I check the books and see that he did leave them here at the hotel. So I'm not supposed to do anything, he's SOL. The maids have gone home, so he is supposed to check back the next day. BUT I decide to help the guy out. I call the head maid at home, another no-no, and get the info on where they may be. I close the whole office, go the the maids room upstairs on the other end of the hotel, and I look through a ton of shit, but I find them.

I hand them to him and he's like... gee... thanks. Then walks out. Now I wasn't expecting a tip or anything but this guy is obviously loaded, and was out for a ski weekend. Gee thanks???? WTF?

So his wife comes in after he walked out and expected a thank you. NOPE. "Hey I'm the guys wife who you just found the glasses for, do you have any plastic bags I can have, I want to put ice in them?"

I'm like, "Sorry no." She looks pissed and walks out.

WTF is wrong with people. The more they have, the more fucking cheap they get with praise AND money.
 
Yes, people are unappreciative bastards. Even myself. People tend to look at the bad side and how they're being wronged rather than the good side and how they are being greatly helped. I try to remember to be grateful, and I am compared to alot of people.
 
My aunt was dating a guy that was loaded once upon a time. He was a co owner of trenmasters, the toy company that made the independince day toys, he got bought out for over 28 million dollers. Any way this guy was a fucking prick. He never tipped unless the tippie literly wiped his ass.

My view is that the only reason people get that much money is cause they don't care about anything else. They are cold, mean, selfish mother fuckers. I would rather hang out with a homeless guy under the railroad tracks than that fucker.
 
When I was college, I delivered pizza for a while. Unless a particular house hold has ordered before (in which case we knew what to expect in terms of tips), the best measure for estimating what kind of the size of the tip was the socio-economic status of the address. Basically:
  • Low Income: the hood, college campus
  • Middle Class: apartments outside the hood, subdivisions with blue-collar families.
  • Rich: condo's, big-ass houses in walled/gated subdivisions.
When I first started working delivering pizza, I was naive enough to believe that the tip generousity would be proportional to the wealth of the customer. I was wrong! The tip averages seemed to follow a bell curve. After about a year's worth of deliveries and analysis, I came to the conclusions:
  • The middle class, who usually tip well, do so because they can and they understand the meaning of earning money.
  • People living on campus and in the hood often don't tip well because they cannot. Although the total amount wasn't much, considering the income:tip ratios, they were the best tippers.
  • People living in castles (most them do not tip well or at all), do so because they choose not to. They deserve 'special' toppings on their pizzas.
 
i dont make much money at all, but i still generously give money to friends and i'm constantly buying everyone small things to make their day better. I dont understand why those with more money feel they need more. They can go die.
 
JLXC, If it makes you feel any better my reaction would have been to slip a $10 in your hand, as I shook it and said "thank you". But then that's just me. (and every other decent human being with a sense of etiquette).
 
Homeless people are heaps fun to hang out with, I wouldn't say I do it all the time but it's still a heap of fun. Anyway my story, like Woodreaux my brother was a pizza delivery boy once, anyway he delivered pizza to my auntie's/cousins house one time, and they are rich mother fuckers, yet even though it was her nefew she didn't give him any tip at all, seriously that is fucking gay!
