PEBL -vs- SLVR

So I find myself in the depths of materialism with a choice on what direction to go with a cell phone. I work for Sprint, thus I'd never own another Sprint phone. Its a matter of pride, regardless of the pathetic discount I get. I switched to T-Mobile a few years back and have been somewhat okay with them, dropped a few calls along the way but nothing too bad. My contract with T-Mobile is up today, so its time to wheel & deal with them (so to speak). If I stay with T-Mobile, I can get a new PEBL for the exact same amount as a new SLVR with Cingular due to them not wanting to loose me. Plus they'll bump up my minutes per month. Price is irrelavant on the actual handsets since it'll about balance out.

My choice is based on:[li]We have never once used more than 500 anytime minutes in one month. Ever.[/li]
[li]The PEBL and the SLVR are the only phones I am interested in. Period.[/li]
[li]Voice Quality[/li]
[li]The overall aesthetics of the phone[/li]
Or I could go with Cingular. Cingular (supposedly) has better coverage and thus I might drop a few less calls. But the plan cost $20 more per month. Here's the breakdown after all incentives:

Code:
 ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?T-Mobile ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?Cingular

Price per month: ? ? ? ? ? ?$49.99=600 shared min ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?$69.99=700 shared min
Contract length: ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?2 years ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? 2 years
Cost to upgrade: ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?$100/phone ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?$142/phone
Does anyone have any experience with either phone? For me it basically comes down the phone, voice quality, durability. Extra features like memory, camera, and mp3 playing ability are purely secondary. Thoughts? Inspirations?

No, the Pebl is not girlie. Maybe the pink or orange ones are though. The Pebl is a very solid phone with EXCELLENT, and I do mean excellent voice clarity incoming & outgoing. Great reception too! I wil copy and paste the review I wrote for phonescoop and stick it here.

======================================================

Purchased for $199 as part of T-mobile upgrade/renewal package. I have had the phone 24 days now and I am very happy with it. Once you get past the initial 'Wow!' factor, the phone really is fantastic.

I like it far better than my previous Razr V3. The Pebl has much richer, and true voice quality. Very clear and full of bass. I find that the Pebl also has better reception than my Razr did as well. Where I would get 2-4 bars signal I now get 4-5 in the same place.

PROS:
-Excellent reception. People will say "Oh, Nokias have the best, blah, blah, blah.." Nevermind all that. I had the much famed 6230b, 6101, and 3220 and this Pebl puts them all to shame in reception.

-Clear calls, no hissing or popping sounds.

-Smooth interface. Not the fastest, but definitely not the slowest.

-Clear, bright screen. Very colorful and vivid. Outer display is very sharp too.

-Voice dialing, how neat!

-Rubber feeling is awesome. It's so smooth and soft to hold, and it fits very nicely in my hand.

-Keypad is very nice. Very classy looking.

CONS:

-Battery life is average at best. I get about 2-3 days between charges and that's with minimal texting, roughly 30 mins of talking per day, no gaming or internet. The V3 had a better battery life.

-The flap that conceals the charging port looks like it may fall off someday, but it's a very minor complaint.

MINOR POINTS:

The flipping mechanism on this phone is very smooth and easy to use. It makes opening the phone with 1 hand VERY easy. I know it's spring loaded, so I just hope it doesn't break on me someday. I don't hear any noises when it opens though. The phone fits very nicely in my pocket and is very rounded and ergonomic. The ear piece volume is clear as can be, I can't stress that enough. Thats probably my biggest praise - how clear the calls are!

If you want a phone that everyone and their mother has, get the Razr. If you want a quality phone that ALSO looks very stylish and performs great, get the Pebl. Recommended!

i agree, but i think all newer motos offered by Cingular are pretty girly... the PEBL, SLVR, RAZR, etc... i bought a SLVR L6 for my gf (after i installed pink housing on it) and she loves it. i dislike motos because of the lack of features and bad UI but if you must choose between those two i say the SLVR becuase its very small, very thin, and honest they are both pretty much the same phones in different housings lol. PEBL screen is better though, i would think...

The PEBL is not girlie! Lol, I don't know where you get this stuff. In black and chrome it looks very nice...definitely not girlie. Just because something doesn't have sharp edges and is rounded doesn't make it girlie. And no, I have not owned one, so I'm not trying to protect my ego, just telling it as it is

P.S. @ Maxiderm, does a lack of features make a phone girly?
