Pearl vs. Curve

I currently have the Pearl, I bought it about 3 months ago. I called T-Mobile today about upgrading to the Curve. They were willing to give me a small discount on it. My question is for the people that have switched from the Pearl to the Curve, is it worth the $399.99 price tag? Whats some of the pros and cons with the Curve to the Pearl? I've been reading around the boards hearing alot of good things about the Curve but I'm just on the fence at the moment about if its really worth it or not to pay for the new phone.

How much do you really like your Pearl? You've had it 3 months now, so you've gotten thru the learning curve (pun not completely intentional) and should have a feeling one way or the other.

While there are definitely some minor differences between the Pearl and Curve OS, there isn't $400 worth of difference, IMO.

If you absolutely, positively cannot stand the SureType keyboard and require a full QWERTY, then you should go for it.

Otherwise, its the Curve is one more phone that 3 months from now won't look as cool as the newest model just released by RIM.

I think both phones are excellent, its more what your preference and needs are. I have a Pearl, I thought about upgrading to a Curve, but I like the Pearl just fine, and liked keeping the $400 that much more.

Thanks for the reply. I know some people didn't like it but once I got the hang of it I really started to like the SureType keyboard.

My biggest draw with the Curve is wifi. So the the faster speeds is appealing to me but some people are saying the wifi is really fast and others are saying its not that great. I don't plan on using the hotspot at home so that doesn't concern me much.

With all the rumors about when T-Mobile is finally going 3G, is the Curve going to be compatible with 3G?

Really deoends how much you like the pearl. The full key board is super nice on the curve, plus you can sell your pearl and get a good chunk off that 400 price tag.

I just have a quick, question, this is kinda out of the topic but is the wifi only going to work if you buy that home thing? Or can I go into someone elses connection? Or use my existing wireless network at home? (not the Tmobile ones)

I was getting ready to buy the Curve but I'm trying to research more about it since I really do not want to upgrade and pay the price tag also extend my plan again.

All thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

really depends. I've said it before, but I think it comes down to if you're a qwerty person or a suretype perseon. besides that, both phones are like brother n' sister. the OS really makes them quite identical otherwise.

I like my new curve and one of the biggest reasons I purchased it was because of the keyboard. My pearl was great but to type emails back and forth was bad when you needed to do it quick

Wifi and keyboard sold me. I can still use my phone in places at work where I don't get cell service because they have wifi. Talking over wifi sounds the same as regular cell service. Being able to surf rabroad on my bb at cable speeds is awesome. Typing without geting frusrated with double typing error suretype is a plus. Bigger screen looks better. When you view pictures on the pearl and try to zoom, the pic becomes distorted, not on the curve. Built in spell check comes in handy. The green service indicator does not blind you when its on for the curve. It feels better in my hands...rubber grip around the curve helps prevent it from slipping out of ur hand. And the titanium color looks pretty professional.

Ajs3898, don't think I could have put it any better. The pearl was a nice phone and loved it but the curve is just that much better. Glad I decided to upgrade

i always have to have the latest so oing to the curve is very important to me, i'm still going to keep my pearl. but the curve is a little larger than the pearl, it has a better camera, wifi, full qwerty keyboard, is hotspot @ home compatible, oh did i mention wifi...lol. its a really great device with some of the sam features as the pearl
