i just installed PC suite and updated all the drivers and software updates. I CAN transfer from N91 to Computer, but when i try to transfer files from computer to N91-- it doesn't connect with the computer.

i've tried :
1. reinstalling pc suite
2. using different usb ports
3. manually selecting PC SUITE on the N91

Nokia N91 from Finland
USB DKE-2 cable (with updated drivers)

does anyone know what could be the problem? i have a N91 with 7 mp3's in it.

After you connect the USB cable to N91 from PC do you get option to select PC Suite/USB storage etc., on the phone? Give us more details on how you are trying to connect.

sorry if i wasn't clear enough.

I turn PC Suite On, then press GET CONNECTED (bottom right), I hit NEXT, NEXT (cable connection), then prompt tells me CONNECT CABLE TO PHONE etc etc... THEN, the phone gives a prompt to select one of the three, PC SUITE, MASS STORAGE, or MEDIA PLAYER. I choose PC SUITE and nothing happens. I leave it on there for a good 5 minutes and still nothing happens.

BUT when i choose MASS STORAGE, my computer, not PC SUITE can recognize it as a hard drive and then i am able to transfer files from the N91 to the Computer. ***ALSO*** when this is done, PC SUITE DOES know there is a phone connected. BUT DOES NOT ALLOW me to select it. The ICON on the PC SUITE program (bottom left corner) has a cell phone with a yellow and black "!" point. from the PDF file i read about what that icon means ... it refers to it as "Connected but the phone is in an incorrect USB mode for Nokia PC Suite"

Check under "Manager Connections" & make sure that "USB" mode is checked. If it still doesn't recognize.. then re-install the latest Nokia PC Suite with drivers.

I find if the phone isn't recognised by PCSuite, the best thing to do is completely remove all Nokia software (PCSuite, Connectivity cable driver etc), restart your PC, and start from scratch. Do not plug your phone in until you are asked by the Get Connected mananger, otherwise it won't work.
