PC Problems - Unable to play games...?

I recently brought 3 games for the PC but none seem to work properly.

One of them, Far Cry, doesn’t seem to load when I click on the icon, the CD just whizzes about in the tray. In the couple of times it has loaded there has been graphics or detail in the ground so is unplayable.

The other, Thief 3, loads and I can play it until I die then it wont load again and has to be re-installed to play again.

The last, Brothers In arms, loads to the menu screen but when you click to play the screen goes black. If I minimise it and then maximise it again I get black and white flickers across my screen.

They are all dating back to about 3-4years old and thought I would have no problems playing them as my PC is only a few months old and the specs are well above that of the recommended requirements.

I'm using the built in graphics card (not sure what it is), do you think this is causing the problem. Or the fact I am using Vista perhaps???

You should be using a proper graphics card for gaming, to start with. This may not be the cause, but its a definite no no to play PC games using on board graphics. I would advise going to the website of each game and downloading the most recent patch - they may have added a patch to improve Vista support. You can also try installing each game using the compatibility wizard. Start, accessories (in XP, not sure about Vista, hopefully the same)
 
It could be Vista or the gfx card. The first thing to do would be to make sure you have the latest drivers for the gfx card.

In truth though, an onboard gfx card is never going to be good enough to play any half-decent games. I suggest you go and buy a real one.
 
First I would find out what video card I have on the machine and see if it matches the requirements.

Next I would download new video drivers from the company's website and install them.

I would also download directX from Microsoft and reinstall it to make sure it is up to date and not corrupt.
 
most likely graphics card on the start bar where it says run type dxdiag and press enter it will give you all the information on your comp and what graphix card you have
 
sounds like vista have you tried using a older windows opperating system in vista i think you can use windows 95 and up
