Political Correct changes
blacks are always cast as good guys now Never the old stereotype pimp low life drug dealer ,
Russians are not terrorists now its the French or Arabs ,or English home counties type toff,
U$ Women are all sassy go getters or hard pressed moms who strive to win in the end,other countries the females are still whores,
an the English are 18th Century Demure Virgins,or Dead Di clones ..
South Americans are all still loser Drug dealers :(
what other PC stuff have you seen creeping into films ?
 
The easisest way to get a British film made over the course of the last 15 years or so has been to make a left-wing social drama about people from a 'disadvantaged' group and the struggles they face.

The critics fall over themselves to praise these "films", despite the fact that most are completely uncinematic and contribute absolutely nothing to the medium whatsoever.

The camerwork consists of cheap, hand-held 'realism' which is no different to a TV production, and the stories and scripts are so dialogue and exposition-laden that it is little more than filmed theatre.
 
PC stuff never worries me so much as revisionist history, for instance coloured people being treated as equals at a time when they wouldn't have been allowed to even share the same room as a white person. This to me is wrong as if you can't admit the mistakes of the past you can't avoid them now.

I totally agree an the new revisited Dr Who fell into this trap , a black girl assstant (although she was a far better actress than Rose one ) running around in different eras is not correct ...

Fact is ....Hollywood are very scared about alienating any minorities over Historical Fact

If the new film world frightens/bores/challenges you that much why don't you just watch the good old films? Gone With the Wind features a very nice Black woman who knows her place. Perhaps that is more to your liking :confused:
 
What really annoys me is that, once upon a time, the British were actually good at telling social stories within cinema - ie during the 50's and 60's (Woman In A Dressing Gown, A Taste Of Honey) etc.

At that time, the film-makers still appreciated the cinematic medium, giving consideration to camerawork, lighting, editing and sound etc.

Nowadays it's just that completely stupid, interest-dissipating fast-action-wobblicam MTV style CRAP that i absolutely hate and detest so much, if I truly began to express the depth of my hate and disgust for it I would shit ultra-fast parasitic AIRAB-cancer worms (CGI ones, obviously).
 
I think everyone can relate to what the OP is saying, maybe not in the entirety of the post but at least in parts, some of these responses have been petty. You get the gist so don't pick out the silly minor points just to make a point of your own.

These types of films have been going for years, not just in the last 15 years. If I am right in thinking you are talking about films like 'The Full Monty' and 'Billy Elliot', these types of films are part of British Social Realism - a movement of film which aims to portray a more 'realistic' view of British life through the use of things like acting and style (use of camera etc...) it goes way back to the 50s and 60s with films like 'Saturday Night and Sunday Morning' (1960) and 'Room at the Top' (1958) so its nothing new.

Next -- the terrorists were French using a stolen Russian bomb
From Russia with Love-- Spy movie. SPECTRE were the baddies and are never identified as Russian or as being from any other ethnic group.

Airforce One and The Glimmer man were correct.
I need another three :)
