First of all, 'live comfortably' is subjective. There is no objective standard of comfort of living. Simply being fed and having shelter is living comfortably. I don't know if Joe is advocating 35% tax on the lower class, but you STILL have to make the argument the other way, that these lower class people are PAYING NOTHING and no one is forcing them to make less money than anyone else. They have the option to try to earn more money or do whatever they'd like. So when you talk FAIR, you have people who make no money, PAYING NO MONEY, and having options to benefits being paid for by people who make more money.
