Pay per channel

I am trying to compare serviced from Rogers and Bell. I will post more in the specialized threads for comparison but this one is specific for Bell TV.
So, I've heard that you can pay for specific channels at Bell TV.
Couldn't find anything on Bell's website (which is stupid and slow) so I ask here:
1) Is it that simple, so can I have basic TV and then only the channels that I want, without having to buy any theme pack?
2) Is this true for any channel?
3) Where I can find a list of prices of channels?

Some channels can be bought separately, most can't. When it comes to HD some have to be bought twice. It's a mess and confusing but it makes Bell money the way it is.

With no theme packs, only individual channels from theme packs ending in 2 or 3 are available. And the price is $2.50 each compared to $8 each for the first 2 theme packs and then $23 for 5 themes. So you really can't select individual channels in a cost efficient manner. And you pay $35 for the large basic package before anything else.

List of theme packs and their channels: http://www.bell.ca/shopping/PrsShpTv_Programming.page?pack=3

You should write down the channels that you want, and then find out the least expensive way of getting them from both providers. Don't make things complicated by looking at channels that you don't want but are included anyways.

Thanks, I would like to know the source of this info. Also, how did u come up with the $35 for the basic package? As per website HD/digital basic are $13 right now, though that's probably a promo, regular $23

I took the $35/mo from my bill. I can't find it on the website directly either.

You can calculate it from the digital basic offer. Click details. Then "offer and pricing details". It says $33 (includes timeshift which is $1 and is optional) and mentions $3 digital service fee in the fine print. Which is $36. Not 35. Not sure why.

The PDF brochure at the botton of the first page gives the theme pack costs and check marks for individually selectable channels.

Keep in mind that often the pricing shown on the web site includes bundle discounts ($5/mth per Bell service) and other discounts for varying lengths. Be warned that the dsicounts will expire at some point and you should keep that in mind in your comparisons.

For example, this is a copy/paste avaialble right now

Also, as strange as it sounds, it is often cheaper to subscribe to more packages. The 4-pack is cheaper that 3 individual packages for example.

That's correct for HD themes.

For standard def themes, it's $8 per theme.

3 themes are $24, 4 themes are $32

but 5 themes are $23 (and 6 themes are $26, 7 themes are $31, etc...)
