Has anyone experienced Paxil CR as a better alternative to the regular Paxil? I am taking 20 mg regular Paxil (brand not generic). About 1 hour after taking it I feel like someone hit my forehead with a 2X4 (headache!) Does the Paxil CR really slow release in your body? Please share your experience if the CR has worked better for you? Thank you!

I have taken both and did not notice any difference at all. The regular is cheaper, so I went with that. You could also just break the 20 mg pill in half and take it in the morning and evening.

I know for me personally, Paxil and caffeinated coffee are not my friend. It gives me a headache and extreme jitters.

Paxil CR is just a response by the manufacturer to extend the product life cycle of an expired patent. The above suggestion of cutting the pill in half would have the same effect. PAROXETINE is the generic form of Paxil and Paxil CR is just another way the Glaxo Smith Kline can extend a new patent on a new formulation of the same drug. Many drug makers are doing this to extend the product life cycle of expired drug patents. Many patients incorrectly think the name brand drug is better than a generic. This can be a costly way of thinking. Go with the Generic PAROXETINE.

I have taken Paxil in the past and many believe that it is a hard drug to get off of. You should consider this as well. Good luck!
