My heavy lids flutter down from exhaustion.
Your body stays etched in my mind but my brain cries “Sleep!”
At last, surrender, they snap shut.
I travel deep into the depths of Dreamland,
Through labyrinths at the speed of light.
Up and down stairs, jumping through walls,
All just to find you.
My heartbeat pounds in my ears as my legs continue onward.
The warmth, the heat that radiates off your sweet brown skin
Calls me forward, pulsing through my veins.
Give me you.
Wings sprout from my back,
I fly down moonlit streets and glass floored alleys.
Fire skips inside my eyes as I plunge into the ocean
Your tender hands pull me under, deeper.
Let me taste you.
My fingers entwine in your jet black hair,
As my tongue dances with yours.
Your nails scrap against my skin,
We swim inside the realms of love.
My lips whisper over your body,
The sands of time rubbing me raw.
You’re deep inside the crevices of my soul,
Lurking in my shadows.
A burst of light, a ball of white inferno roars across my bones.
You’re mixed into my system,
Pumping aftershocks through my heart.
We resurface with a gasp of air,
Our lungs burning from the intoxicating scent.
We slide between the cracks in the sky
And I wrap you in my wings.
A cloud cradles our worn bodies,
We drift away, leaving behind the hollow tunnels of insanity.
But not before you say,
I love you.
This is the first poem I've ever wrote, usually I write short stories, so this is very new to me. Please let me know what you think of it!
