Partner at a law firm be sued if no agreement was made with his former partners?

If a partner at a law firm does not make any agreement with his former firm about soliciting clients can he be sued? Matt worked at ABC as a partner. Matt left ABC and is now working for DEF. He solicited his former clients at ABC to join him at DEF. Can ABC sue him for taking away their clients? ABC did not make any agreement with MAtt on the issue of solicitng clients once he joins another law firm.
