Every kid reaches the stage in their life where they realize that their parents are...well...lame. And sadly, I've begun to hit that phase and start to strongly dislike my parents.
On one hand, you could consider this a growing-up phase that every kid has to hit eventually, and they will become more dependent upon his or herself by using their best abilities. On the other, you begin to lose relationships with your parents and things that make "home" feel like "home" begin to dissolve into "that place where I live with those nutjobs."
I hate to admit that I have hit the phase where I would love going on a vacation from my parents and not have to talk to them for months on end, but at the same time, I really do admire and appreciate all the things that they do for me.
As I'm sitting here my mom brought a soda over to my desk and said, "Here, have a drink." It made me happy, yet, sad that I'll eventually end up hating their guts for a good year or two. Some people don't ever but I can see it easily happening between me and my dad. We fight way too often for us to continue living in the same house.
I just wish I could show them more appreciation for putting up with my crap. Parents rule. Most of the time.
